THE DESTINATION AND PRESENTATION PROJECTS
ISTANBUL, STEP BY STEP
Istanbul, which was "the most important city of Turkey" in the 20th century, will play in the 21th century the role of being a "world city" or "a regional center".
The actions and the efforts which conform to the concept to be established and which are pursued by the compatriots up to the most authoritative agencies in this issue, will serve at every stage, be social and economic advantages, the city to find its real place.
Istanbul is a city, the equal of which does not exist all around the world in terms of geography, history, archeology, ecology, art, culture, fashion, ethnology, … In terms of world tourism, Istanbul deserves the first place in the list of must go and must sea places.
There are countless advantages in recognizing Istanbul as not one of the subtitles in Turkey’s presentation (which is being done), but in recognizing it as a product of its own and presenting it in a way as to add to its competitiveness. Besides, it is that obvious that there is no need to discuss that a presentation started with the presentation of Istanbul will have also synergistic advantages for the presentation of Turkey.
The importance of Istanbul as being Istanbul will come true by its habitants’ actions and efforts to live in the 21th century with Istanbul.
Istanbul, which we cannot perceive in the heavy work load, but which we go through every day, on the roads of which we walk, of which we forget that it has historical and cultural value, is nowadays a cultural treasury district by distric, quarter by quarter. We decided to examine this treasury part by part, and as the first step, we wanted to examine the obvious and hidden historical and cultural values of Beykoz, the structure of it with its folk cultures thus contributing to its presentation and to the restauration of its historical values. Thus it was our aim to either present the Beykoz’s forgotten cultural values, or to make its inhabitants conscious of their protection, or to assure their restauration by manufacturing public opinion by means of dia shows.
Within the context of the Istanbul, step by step project, our actions which have begun with the aim of manufacturing a conscious crowd of Istanbul, who would know and protect the cultural treasuries of Istanbul, have been performed for Küçükçekmece at the second step, for Adalar at the third step, for Üsküdar at the fourth step and our actions for other steps are going on.
THE CITIES 2000 – HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT
Getting off with the culture tourism policy in 2000 and hereafter, turning our aim of presenting Turkey city by city, thus reaching correct and detailed information, to be a project, we have started THE CITIES 2000 – HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT actions. Within the context of this projet, we aimed to examine the obvious and hidden historical and cultural values of the cities, their structures with their folk cultures thus contributing to their presentation and to the restauration of their historical values. We aimed to make up either a cultural archive by shooting dias of these examined cities or prepare visual advertisement materials accompanied by the CDs prepared with these dias, thus to prepare folk culture archives according to the cities.
We aimed to make the tourists from abroad and from Turkey conscious due to the visual designs prepared by the cultural features of each city, we wanted to draw the attention to this region, to integrate the regions to the tourism industry, to increase the foreign currency incomes by increasing the flow of the tourists to the cities, culturally presented.
We further aim within the context of this project to investigate the HISTORICAL CITIES, to investigate the tombstones of the Turkiks in the Middle Asia on their emigration traces from the archaic era until after Anno Domini, to investigate their heritage, their professions due to the signs and marks on these tombstones, relating these to Anno Domini. To accomodate the new touristic places to be built with the historical remainings, to educate the mayors and make them accommodate with the new construction and environment regulations, are again among our aims within the context of this project.
For this project we have acted together with the governerships of Konya, Muğla, Isparta, Antalya, Denizli, Ankara, Mardin, Aydın and our actions still go on.
Within the context of this project the following actions have been performed:
ELAZIĞ, STEP BY STEP: Within the context of THE CITIES 2000- HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT, we decided to examine the obvious and hidden historical and cultural values of Elazığ, the structure of it with its folk cultures thus contributing to its presentation and to the restauration of its historical values. Especially to begin with the Arıcak, Baskil, Harput regions, the actions have been performed to assess the historical artifacts, handicrafts, tombstones with a ram head and to put them into the Elazığ museum.
- GAP, STEP BY STEP: Within the context of THE CITIES 2000- HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT, actions have been performed in Kilis, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Mardin and Şırnak, in order to keep the handicrafts of the region, the regional meals, cultural data and archeological traces alive.
THE TURKISH ISLAMIC CITY TOKAT: Within the context of THE CITIES 2000- HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT, actions have been performed to open Tokat to tourism, to protect old buildings, to part the old city from the new city, to keep the historical places alive, to present the traditional foods, to restore, to belong to the international destination, to present the handicrafts, etc. with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture.
THE SOUTHEAST ANATOLIA IN THE LIGHT OF THE CULTURAL DATA: Within the context of THE CITIES 2000- HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT, actions have been performed to keep the handicrafts, regional foods, cultural data, archeological traces of the regions Elazığ, Batman, Hasankeyf, Hakkari, Van (Akdamar Church) alive.
- NEVŞEHİR, STEP BY STEP: Within the context of THE CITIES 2000- HISTORICAL CITIES PROJECT, we aimed to make Nevşehir’s and its counties’ (Acıgöl, Avanos, Derinkuyu, Gülşehir, Hacıbektaş, Ürgüp) historical and cultural data, the forgotten handicrafts and the kitchen, conform to the attractions suggested in the cultural cities project, thus to establish accomodation facilites and by products on this route, to secure the foundation of the tourism institutes, to prepare the inhabitants for tourism with the help of cooperatives, to open them to tourism by establishing hotels, motels, holiday villages, places of amusement. The establishment of restaurants, pensions, amusement places out of rock, opening to foreign and local tourism, establishment of authentic accomodation facilities and by products which can conform to the simple, comfortable environment in the counties above, the establishment of the handicraft factories (pottery in Avanos, authentic carpet works in other counties, marble works), the Mustafa Paşa restauration actions have been performed within the context of this project. The Sinasos restaurant restoration and the wine degustation have been started and actions to introduce the vintage have been performed.
THE ANATOLIA 2010 PRESENTATION PROJECTS
The integration of the remote magnets in cities, counties, villages into the circulation area, their presentation, the integration of the cultural data, the forgotten handicrafts into the tourism, and the development of the management milieu are among the aims of this project and the actions are going on.
THE TURKISH CULTURE AND TRNC FROM THE ARCHAIC ERA TO THE PRESENT PROJECT
Getting off with the culture tourism policy in 2000 and hereafter, turning our aim of presenting the TRNC, thus reaching correct and detailed information, to be a project, we have started the actions of this project. Within the context of this projet, we aimed to examine the obvious and hidden historical and cultural values of the TRNC, its structures with its folk cultures thus contributing to its presentation and to the restauration of its historical values.
At the end of the examination of our folk culture, due to the visual designs according to the TRNC’s own cultural features, we aimed to make the local and foreign tourists conscious, to draw the attention to this country, to integrate the country to the tourism industry, and to present its culture thus increasing the flow of tourists.
THE ORGANIZED TOURISM EXPOSITION, BAZAAR AND FAIRS PROJECT
We aimed to give to the second and third age people out of employ, to the people with the worst economic conditions, who have been affected by the economic crisis, chances to be employed in the fields of forgotten handicrafts which have not been industrialised, the traditional foods, handicraft and giftwares, in the expositions, bazaars and fairs with the contribution of the foundation. Especially the existing villages will be made fair centers. Thus emigration from the village to the city will be prevented, new places in the villages for the emigrations from the cities will be established. In the fair centers, employment actions will be performed with touristic skills, and our project will attain its object.
